Summer in Alaska. Bring it!

It's April now and we thought the count down had really begun! We had been told our boat would be completed in May, and thought we'd be leaving for Turkey in just over a month.  So what do you do when one more month of waiting becomes five more months! You capitalize on the fact that you get to enjoy an unfettered summer in Alaska!  This time, we're fully retired, not in the midst of selling a house, moving (twice), or building a barn. Time to shift gears and get ready to play. Hard.

The camper is on the truck, and both it and the boat will be de-winterized.  Already loads of visitors have made reservations and will be arriving beginning the first of July. Both July and August are already fully booked! Hiking, camping, biking and fishing are all on the agenda.  While also, of course, checking off our 'To Do' lists for the big change coming this Fall.

For the moment, we'll focus on what's right here, right now. The quickly melting snow, the warmth of the returning sun, the increasing daylight that signals spring and summer. I love having all of this to look forward to. New summits to hike, exploring the beauty of the Alaskan waters with friends old and new, bike trips into the wild places, and harvesting, cooking and sharing the bounty of the sea.   It's going to be great. Bring it on!
